How castings work on FindAShoot
A full guide to what castings are, how to apply, how to create them and what to expect from the platform.
1. What is a casting
On FindAShoot you can publish four kinds of opportunities. 🎬 Casting: you're looking for talent (models, photographers, MUAs…) for a specific shoot — users apply for the listed roles and you decide who gets accepted. 🎉 Event: you're hosting something open (meetup, launch) — registrations are auto-confirmed. 🎓 Workshop: you're running a paid lesson/training — registrations are also auto-confirmed and ticket payment is settled off-platform. 🤝 Model sharing: you've already booked (and paid) a model for your shoot and you're sharing the slot with other photographers/videographers who join as second shooters — slot bookings are auto-confirmed and the slot fee is arranged via chat. Only PHOTOGRAPHER, VIDEOGRAPHER or BRAND can create a model sharing. Every listing includes the project type, date and location, plus (for castings) the roles being recruited and the collaboration type (TFP or Paid).
2. TFP vs Paid
TFP (Time for Photos): no monetary compensation. The creator gets time with the model; the model receives professional images for their portfolio. Ideal for creative sessions, editorial concepts, test shoots. Paid: there's monetary or in-kind compensation (hourly rate, day rate, prints, vouchers). Ideal for commercial shoots, brand lookbooks, advertising campaigns. The distinction must be clear in the listing.
3. How to apply well
Read the brief carefully. Personalize your application — reference something specific (style, location, brand). Make sure your profile is up to date: bio, recent photos, Instagram link, and any external portfolio. Explicitly confirm availability for the stated date. If shortlisted, respond within 24h to follow-up messages. Before the first meeting, please read our safety tips: FindAShoot only provides the platform — contracts, payments, logistics and safety remain between the parties. If you change your mind, you can always withdraw your application/registration via the "Cancel registration" button on the listing page.
4. What happens after
Casting: the creator reviews applications and accepts or shortlists you — once accepted, a private group chat opens with the creator and the other accepted participants. Event, workshop, model sharing: registration is auto-confirmed and the chat is immediately accessible. In the chat you agree on final details: exact time, outfits, transport, ticket / slot fee payment when applicable. You can use the integrated contract generator (TFP/Paid/Model Release) to produce a document to sign offline. People who join the chat later don't see earlier messages — the history stays private to the original participants. After the shoot, both sides can leave a mutual review.
5. Platform fees
FindAShoot takes no commission on collaborations. Payment (when applicable) happens directly from the creator to the selected creative, offline, using the agreed method. The platform just connects people and keeps communication on record.
Frequently asked questions
What's the difference between a casting, an event, a workshop and model sharing?
🎬 Casting: you're looking for talent (models, photographers, MUAs…) for a specific shoot — users apply for the roles. 🎉 Event: you're hosting something open (meetup, launch, gathering) — users register directly. 🎓 Workshop: you're running a paid lesson or training — users sign up. 🤝 Model sharing: you've already booked a model for your shoot and you're sharing the slot with other photographers/videographers who join as second shooters (only PHOTOGRAPHER, VIDEOGRAPHER or BRAND can create one). The kind decides who joins and how the flow works.
Does it cost anything to join or apply?
Nothing on FindAShoot — we take no platform fee. For Paid castings the fee is settled directly between the parties; for paid events or workshops, the ticket price is arranged and paid OFF-platform (typically via chat after registering).
Does FindAShoot host or guarantee the events?
No. FindAShoot is only the listing space — the organiser is solely responsible for the event, payments, logistics and any refunds. Always check the organiser before signing up.
What do TFP and Paid mean (for castings)?
TFP (Time for Photos): no monetary compensation — both sides receive the images for their portfolio. Paid: there's monetary or in-kind compensation for the selected creative.
What happens after my application/registration is accepted?
Castings: the creator contacts you via private chat to agree on details and (for Paid) compensation. Events/workshops/model sharing: registration is auto-confirmed; use the chat to coordinate logistics and ticket/slot payment if applicable.
