How castings work on FindAShoot

A full guide to what castings are, how to apply, how to create them and what to expect from the platform.

1. What is a casting

A casting is a public listing created by a photographer, brand, stylist or other professional looking for collaborators for a specific shoot. The listing includes: project type, date and location, roles needed (e.g. 2 Model + 1 MUA), collaboration type (TFP or Paid), and moodboard/visual references. Interested people apply with a message and their profile.

2. TFP vs Paid

TFP (Time for Photos): no monetary compensation. The creator gets time with the model; the model receives professional images for their portfolio. Ideal for creative sessions, editorial concepts, test shoots. Paid: there's monetary or in-kind compensation (hourly rate, day rate, prints, vouchers). Ideal for commercial shoots, brand lookbooks, advertising campaigns. The distinction must be clear in the listing.

3. How to apply well

Read the brief carefully. Personalize your application — reference something specific (style, location, brand). Make sure your profile is up to date: bio, recent photos, Instagram link, and any external portfolio. Explicitly confirm availability for the stated date. If shortlisted, respond within 24h to follow-up messages.

4. What happens after

When your application is accepted, a private conversation opens in the Messages section. There you agree on final details: exact time, outfits, transport. You can use the integrated contract generator (TFP/Paid/Model Release) to produce a document to sign offline. After the shoot, both sides can leave a mutual review.

5. Platform fees

FindAShoot takes no commission on collaborations. Payment (when applicable) happens directly from the creator to the selected creative, offline, using the agreed method. The platform just connects people and keeps communication on record.

Frequently asked questions

How does a casting work?

A photographer, brand or creative posts a listing (type, date, location, roles needed). Interested people apply with a message. The creator shortlists candidates, accepts finalists, and coordinates via private messages.

Does it cost anything to join or apply?

Nothing. FindAShoot takes no commission on collaborations. Payment (for Paid castings) happens directly between the parties.

What do TFP and Paid mean?

TFP (Time for Photos): no monetary compensation — both sides receive the images for their portfolio. Paid: there's monetary or in-kind compensation for the selected creative.

Can I apply to multiple castings at once?

Yes. Each application is independent. Manage your availability carefully if you're selected for multiple shoots on the same dates.

What happens after my application is accepted?

The creator contacts you via private messages. You agree on details, can generate a contract (TFP/Paid/Model Release) from the platform, and run the shoot offline.
